2.2.3 Order of precedence. Unless otherwise noted herein or in the contract, in the event
of a conflict between the text of this document and the references cited herein (except for related
specification sheets), the text of this document takes precedence. Nothing in this document,
however, supersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been
obtained
3. REQUIREMENTS
3.1 Required inspections.
3.1.1 First article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample shall be subjected to first article
inspection in accordance with 4.2.
3.1.2 Conformance. A sample shall be subject to conformance inspection in accordance
with 4.3.
3.2 Components and assemblies. The components and assemblies shall comply with the
requirements specified on drawing 7549251 and subsidiary drawings.
3.3 Ammunition lot number. Ammunition lot number shall be assigned in accordance
with MIL-STD-1168.
3.4 Air pressure tests.
3.4.1 Air pressure test of the primer and cartridge case assembly. The cartridge case, with
the primer assembled, shall withstand air pressure of not less than 5 psi for not less than 15
seconds without leaking, as evidenced by a drop in gage pressure of not greater than 0.025 psi.
3.4.2 Air pressure test of cartridge assembly. The complete cartridge shall withstand air
pressure of not less than 5 psi for not less than 15 seconds without leaking as evidenced by a
drop in gauge pressure of not greater than 0.50 psi.
3.5 Functioning (proving ground test).
3.5.1 Safety. There shall be no misfires, hang fires in excess of 1 second or indications of
metal parts failure in the gun bore during any of the proving ground tests conducted.
