5. PACKAGING
5.1 Packaging. For acquisition purposes, the packaging requirements shall be as specified
in the contract or order (see 6.2). When packaging of materiel is to be performed by DoD or in-
house contractor personnel, these personnel need to contract the responsible packaging activity
to ascertain packaging requirements. Packaging requirements are maintained by the Inventory
Control Point's packaging activities within Military Service or Defense Agency, or within the
military service's system commands. Packaging data retrieval is available from the managing
Military Department's or Defense Agency's automated packaging files, CD-ROM products, or
by contacting the responsible packaging activity.
6. NOTES
(This section contains information of a general or explanatory nature that may be helpful,
but is not mandatory.)
6.1 Intended use. The Case, Cartridge, 105MM Blank, M395 Assembly is intended for
use in the family of 105MM artillery weapons.
6.2 Acquisition requirements. Acquisition documents should specify the following:
a. Title, number and date of this specification.
b. Characteristic code number.
c. Packaging requirements (see 5).
d. Requirements for submission of first article sample (see 6.8).
e. Requirement for submission of acceptance inspection equipment (see 6.3).
f. Certificate of conformance for each lot or shipment of product.
g. Applicable stock number.
h. Sample requirements for check test for deterioration of primer, percussion M61
assembly (see 6.4).
Data cards should be prepared for each lot in accordance with the information

specified in Standard MIL-STD-1168.
6.3 Submission of contractor acceptance inspection equipment (AIE) designs for
approval. Submit copies of designs as required to: Commander, U.S. Army Armaments,
Research, Development and Engineering Center (ARDEC), ATTN: RDAR-QEM-A, Picatinny
Arsenal, New Jersey 07806-5000. This address should be specified on the Contract Data
Requirements List, DD Form 1423 in the contract.
6.4 Cost of primer check test (see 4.4.3). The contracting officer should arrange for the
contractor to be reimbursed for the expense incurred in the performance of the check tests. The
test should be conducted at Government expense without cost to the contractor who loaded the
